Eighteen keen and trophy-aspiring golfers gathered at the first tee on Saturday 3 May in calm conditions, ready to tee off for the Merle Robinson Golf Shoot-Out. Played over 18 holes, the format sees the golfer with the worst score eliminated after each hole – reluctantly heading home.
The competition was fierce as the group size diminished and the banter increased.
Merle Robinson was a Raglan Golf Club legend who gave years of service to the club as both an administrator and a player. Her family donated the trophy that is now enthusiastically competed for each year.
Finally, after a nerve-wracking chip-off between Glenn Rangitonga and Wayne Borrell, Glenn emerged as the winner of the shoot-out. Congratulations, Glenn.
An excellent club day.
…off the tee, Pete Aim…
