THE WOZ

November 26, 2025

Whaingaroa Youth Movement presents The WOZ, a strangely familiar adventure.

A twisted storm takes ‘Dot’ and firmly puts her in a place she does not understand.  Dot is lost in a curious world trying to find her way home. Along the road she meets some oddly instrumental friends who are also searching.

Off they journey in the belief that The Wiz will help them, he will save them.  He will give them what they long for. But….. he’s a shifty manipulator, a master of distraction.

As they adventure they find that (in actual fact) The Wiz has no significant power. They come to learn that everything they search for is already within each of them. Along a yellowing road they find courage, knowing, heart, and a sense of home. They come to understand that they are not alone and recognise the magic in being together.

Whaingaroa Youth Movement (est. 2003) are a group of 60+ young people aged between 6-18yrs.  We are about being together; to dance, create and explore ideas collectively. Our performance work is about who we are, where we live and how we see the world.

Come join us to celebrate dance, creative spirt and storytelling in the Bush Park for our end of year show. BYO seating (no dogs allowed – there will be lions!)
