New outdoor space brings fresh energy to Raglan Kindergarten

September 29, 2026

Raglan Kindergarten is opening its gates to the community on Saturday, September 12, giving whānau a chance to explore its learning spaces, playground and see what’s new at the much-loved local kindergarten.

The open day comes as the kindergarten celebrates the opening of its expanded outdoor play area, complementing the learning space that opened last year to meet the growing needs of the community.

The new playground gives tamariki and kaiako more choice in how they learn, play and spend their day, while creating a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor environments, says head teacher Isabel Crawforth.

“The indoor-outdoor flow is one of the things we love most about the space. The children can move between quiet learning inside and active play outside, giving them the freedom to choose what works for them.”

While the kindergarten’s growth has created more options for children, Isabel says maintaining strong connections between children, teachers and whānau remains central to the kindergarten.

“The essence of kindergarten is about quality learning for children; it’s also about that social offering and connection for families. Whether it’s fundraisers, social events, looking after the kindergarten guinea pigs or coming on trips, there are lots of opportunities for families to come together and be part of the kindy community.”

The September 12 open day at the Stewart Street kindergarten will provide an opportunity for current and prospective whānau to meet the teaching team, explore the learning spaces and outdoor play areas, and see how the kindergarten is continuing to grow alongside Raglan’s tamariki.

There will also be free organic coffee, provided by the awesome team at Morning Glory. Any questions – please pop or give the team a call on 07 825 8674.
