It was a very special evening recently, when Kaumatua Sean Ellison blessed our new Rylock Rescue Water Crafts in a private ceremony.
We recently shared with Chronicle readers our annual statistics. Raglan Volunteer Coastguard has some of the highest number of call outs in the country and these Rescue Water Crafts enable our volunteer coastguards to get to those in need of help on the water.
Rylock have been partnering with us for a decade and we are so grateful for Rylock’s ongoing financial support which keeps our locals and manuhiri safe.

Thank you Trust Waikato
We would also like to acknowledge with utmost thanks the recent grant received thanks to Trust Waikato. This grant supports the major capital milestones of our new vessel. It gave our volunteer crew and shore crew buoyancy to know that Trust Waikato is with us seeing this campaign to fruition.
The new vessel is essential for our community as we prepare to retire the Gallagher Rescue vessel which has been in service for 26years. We know that most of you reading this have supported our summer raffles, have Coastguard stickers in your homes, and have been observing this campaign over recent years. It’s not too late to join in. If you want to join us on this journey head to our website, or get in touch by directly contacting Raglan Volunteer Coastguards President Wally Hawken on: (027) 496 8417. He would love to hear from you.
New Zealand Boat Fish & Dive Expo – Mystery Creek
Wow, what an event! It was wonderful to be at the NZ Dive and Boat Show featuring some of the leaders in boats, engines, diving, education, gear, and of course sharing knowledge and a love for ocean work and recreation. We had the pleasure of speaking on stage with Simon Marshall from Coastguard, alongside other podcasters and keynote speakersAnother thank you to the Rotary Club for their generous donation at this event.
Up Next: in our next update expect to hear about the wonderful 2026 AGM, and our recent training and development with Thames Coastguard.
