Trade Aid Good Egg makes a difference

Raglan’s known for its community-minded folk and a campaign saw around 30 well-deserving volunteers nominated in the Trade Aid Good Egg competition.

Shop manager Eloise Deller says Good Egg Angela Massey came through in the end with two nominations from Larissa Grandi and Donna Mataire.

“Trade Aid is all about promoting and supporting the unsung and often undervalued work of the small food and craft producers around the world. It’s lovely to be able to run a campaign that highlights people in our community who do good. We wouldn’t be able to run the shop without our own team of volunteers so we know just how important the people are who give their time to help others.”

People just like Angela who can be found at Feed the Kids at Raglan Area School every Wednesday community-run initiative that provides a milo and toast for students at the school – no questions asked.

She’s also does paid work at the school supporting children with special needs but this work continues in her own time as she takes these kids under her wing, sometimes long after they have left school.

Organising the Christmas presents for whānau going through hard times for the Raglan Community House is also something on Angela’s portfolio of good deeds.

And there’s more, including raffle fundraising throughout the year for school activities.

Larissa reckons Angela goes above and beyond the call of duty.

“I feel like she’s everywhere, trying to help out people who need things, especially the kiddies” she says.

Angela says she’s just one of many good eggs in Raglan doing their bit for the community.

“I saw the promotion online and meant to come down to nominate someone.”

But for now, Angela is happy to take the monster egg, made from 55% Trade Aid chocolate but you can be sure she will be sharing it with Feed the Kids students.
