Raglan locals can now get their bikes back on the road with a free community repair service available at Raglan Cyclery.
Through a local partnership, basic bike repairs are being offered free of charge during the shop’s opening hours, helping ensure bikes are safe, rideable and ready to use.
The service is aimed at those with bikes that may have been sitting unused or need minor fixes to get going again. No booking is required — simply bring your bike in and let the team know it’s for the community repair programme.
Mechanic Dirk can assist with a range of basic repairs, including puncture fixes, brake adjustments, tyre checks, chain lubrication and gear tuning. Safety checks are also part of the service, covering bolts, wheels, lights and general rideability.
Free replacement inner tubes and brake cables are also available as part of the programme.
If a bike requires more extensive repairs, these will be discussed with the owner before any additional work is carried out.
The initiative is supported by Xtreme Zero Waste, Raglan Cyclery and Waikato District Council, with the aim of keeping more people riding and reducing waste.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the service and get their bikes ready for everyday use.
