Te Uku Pony Club

Te Uku Pony Club was originally established in the early 1950s. It went into recess for a few years and was restarted in the early 1980s by Avril Hawken and Christine Hartstone.

Te Uku has amazing facilities at the ground on Okete Rd. David and Nicola Peacocke sponsored a fabulous three-bay shed for the club rooms which has made a huge difference to rally and competition days. There is a cross country course available for schooling on rally days and training as well. Keep Reading

Christmas cakes raise money for Old School Arts Centre new build

Spread some Christmas joy in more ways than one with the Old School Arts Centre’s Christmas cake fundraiser for the new Creative Space building.

Clay shed coordinator Susanne Giessen-Prinz says the Christmas cakes are the gifts that keep on giving as friends and family will enjoy the delicious home-baked cakes in a beautifully crafted clay pot long after the cake is eaten.

“This is a wonderful way for the community to get behind the new build and also they will have a beautiful gift to give this Christmas.” Keep Reading

Raglan Area School students Shave for a Cure

Students at Raglan Area School decided to make a stand against Leukemia and Blood Cancer by organising a sponsored Shave for a Cure event.    
On September 5, Deputy Head Girl Ngaramai Elliott-Rooney stood alongside Mickey Brajkovic and several other students in front of the whole school and were shaved by Ray Bailey and Joel Rankine from Raglan Barbers. Keep Reading

School fundraiser takes new heights with wind farm trail run

There are three mad women behind Waitetuna School PTA’s end-of-year fundraiser – a trail run that goes through the Te Uku Wind Farm.

PTA chairperson and teacher Jess Otton says no, she’s not one of them – she’s more the type who prefers to man a “sausage team”, and she’s certainly no keen runner. Keep Reading

Raffle boosts coffers for new Old School creative space

The Raglan community has helped fundraise $8000 towards the new creative space at the Old School Arts Centre.

Fundraising committee member Susanne Giessen Prinz says $140,000 in grants has been secured for the project, with the community also showing its support by donating prizes and purchasing tickets in the Super Summer Bumper Raffle. Keep Reading

Fundraising Dinner for Raglan Community House

Wednesday night saw an amazing fundraiser for the Raglan Community House at Rock-It Kitchen on Wainui Rd.

Kenyan school gets a helping hand from Raglan community

Raglan has blown us away by fundraising the majority of $2200 in an appeal to provide washable sanitary pads for a rural school in Kenya.

This will be a game changer for our girls and for the environment. We now have the funds to gift a kit to every girl and female teacher at Heittmann Girls High School – along with a quality sewing machine – to teach them how to make their own sanitary pads and start a small social enterprise to sell to other woman.
