Raglan writers’ programme poised for 2024

Pens, pencils and keyboards are poised for a 2024 writers’ programme.

Following on from the successful March pilot pop-up gallery writers’ programme featuring 18 local authors and publishers, the Raglan Community Arts Council is keen to coordinate another series of pop-up book events.

Thanks to funding received from Waikato District Council Creative Communities, the programme will promote Wh.ingaroa writers, illustrators and publishers combined with workshop talks, events and artists in residence programme at the Old School.

The aspiration now is to create a hub and further networking opportunities, enabling a broader range of related events to be run throughout the year.

The 2024 programme will provide an opportunity for local authors, illustrators and publishers to display and promote work on a regular basis. It is also an opportunity for Raglan residents and visitors to enjoy, engage with and buy local books, and meet local wordsmiths.

A hui on Wednesday 5 December, 6.30pm at the Old School will provide an opportunity to brainstorm ideas to shape the future of this exciting new series of pop-up programmes and discuss how this may develop.    All writers, illustrators, publishers, bloggers and poets interested in coming together as a central writing hub to support and connect with each other are welcome.

In the meantime, if you are an author, publisher or illustrator and are keen to find out more about the 2024 writers’ pop-up programme, contact the event coordinator Jacqueline at Jacqueline@raglanartscentre.co.nz.
