Raglan Junior Rugby Club

It’s hard to believe that the rugby season is just around the corner. The 2016 season was another great year for the club with nine teams and 135 registered players.

Everyone played some great rugby and, more importantly, had a lot of fun.  We are looking forward to another exciting season of rugby, so kids it’s time to dust off your boots and get ready for training! Keep Reading

First medals for Raglan waka ama club

Raglan’s senior masters women’s team in waka ama won the Whaingaroa club its first medals ever at the national sprint championships held at Lake Karapiro last week.

Team Taiaroha, comprising of Lynne Rogers, Sheryl Rangiawha, Neria Mataira, Debbie Phillips-Morgan, Jocelyn Hartstone and Sarah Harihari, won gold in the 500m W12 with Ngaruroa, from the Ruamata Waka Ama Club, and bronze in the W6 500m. Keep Reading

2017 National Surfing Championships underway at Piha this week

Billy Stairmand has been looking forward to this week.

“It is good to be back in the water and putting the rashie on,” says a relaxed Billy.

“The waves are not too bad, there is a bank out the back, big lefties. I feel like I am surfing good so I am looking forward to it,” he says in reference to his pending match-ups.

Billy advanced to the quarterfinals of the event winning his second round.

He is chasing a record sixth Open Men’s Division title at the event.

The 2017 National Championships started on Sunday at Piha Beach, west of Auckland, and will end on Saturday.

More than 250 have entered the event, which includes 22 divisions and age groups.
